The Welcome Video

Sometimes the simple stuff works. Sending out a student “Welcome Video” fits into this category effortlessly!

What is a “Welcome Video?”

A welcome video is a short 1–2 minute video that a teacher records and sends to their students prior to starting the school year. In the video, the teacher might introduce themselves, share a tour of the classroom, or share things about their class that might interest students.

5 Stellar Back to School Activities

It’s nearly Back to School…

This is one of my favorite parts of the school year! (rivaled by the last days of school, but we’ll save that for another blog post.)

I still recall my first day on my first year. I remember closing the door to our classroom for the first time. My students were sitting in a circle on the rug at the front of the room. After shutting the door, I turned around to walk back to them, when it hit me. “Wow, its just me now. This is my classroom.” It was a surreal moment. I couldn’t believe I was qualified to be responsible of all those kiddos! I was terribly nervous. Luckily, the nerves began to fade as we fell into the rhythm of the day.

My Journey to Teaching

Bold Truth: I never wanted to be a teacher.

Yikes, right? Not what you’d expect from someone who claims to be passionate about teaching!

End of Year Awards for Elementary Students

Hands down, my favorite Last Day of School tradition is our End of Year Awards Ceremony. I lay out the red (butcher paper) carpet, turn on the disco lights, cue the Hollywood Award Show music, and grab my microphone for announcing each student’s name. It’s a massive hit. And it just feels right as a […]

You know Fall has arrived when Starbucks drops their Autumn Menu! (even if it’s still 90 degrees outside🙋🏻‍♀️😅) This makes a darling display for the hallway or the classroom walls as the seasons change & ties in recent learning + writing! 👏🏼

I loved using writing crafts as a reading center or as a morning work activity!

I’ll never forget the first Pencil Challenge I tried with my 2nd graders. I set our challenge for one week thinking most of them would be out by the end of it…and then everyone succeeded 😅👏🏽🤯 I couldn’t believe it!

Pencil Management has never been easier or more fun for my classes. We saved a TON of pencils (they used 7-9 pencils each for the year bc I use @weareticonderoga ‼️) and I stopped constantly finding pencils all over the floor. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

I can’t WAIT for you to try it with your class!
