End of Year Awards for Elementary Students

Hands down, my favorite Last Day of School tradition is our End of Year Awards Ceremony. I lay out the red (butcher paper) carpet, turn on the disco lights, cue the Hollywood Award Show music, and grab my microphone for announcing each student’s name. It’s a massive hit. And it just feels right as a […]

Of course, I’m not saying school should become camp (although I LOVED my camp counselor days) and we negate learning time.

But I AM saying that Life Skills/SEL needs a place. Even if that’s a short 10-20 minute pocket of the day (preferably right after the bell to start the day off right.) 🧡

Teaching these skills explicitly will do wonders for students and for your classroom community. It’s so special to me to see these units being used in classrooms beyond my own! 🥹

These units are made to create conversations and deepen skills students have heard of, but they may not have the tools to apply to day to day life. ⚒️

My favorite part is hearing students refer to their learning in class 🥹 Like when a student said:

“This is hard for me, but I’m going to use my growth mindset.”

Or

“I think I need a break because I’m feeling frustrated.”

Or

“I’m really sad I lost but I’m going to be a good sport.”

These lessons create common ground & connection the entire class builds on and uses throughout the year!

I can’t wait for you to get your hands on them. Grab the units you need most (sold separately) or the entire yearly bundle at a discount!

You know Fall has arrived when Starbucks drops their Autumn Menu! (even if it’s still 90 degrees outside🙋🏻‍♀️😅) This makes a darling display for the hallway or the classroom walls as the seasons change & ties in recent learning + writing! 👏🏼

I loved using writing crafts as a reading center or as a morning work activity!
